Fixed upon Us

Meditate on this passage from the psalms until your mind is focused on God.

I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your commandment is exceedingly broad.

In the freest manner, and on no mercenary grounds, does God bestow upon us his love and favor, just as, when we were not yet born, and when he was prompted by nothing but his own will, he fixed upon us his choice. The material cause both of eternal election, and of the love which is now revealed, is Christ, the Beloved. This Name is given to remind us that by him the love of God is communicated to us. Thus he is the well-beloved, in order that we may be reconciled by him.
—John Calvin

If possible, memorize this verse, so that you can think about it throughout the day.

He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will
—Ephesians 1:5

Father, imprint upon my heart that because I belong to you, no one can pluck me from your hand, and because I fear you I need fear no other...
—NZ: Anglican (alt.)
Let this pray guide you in praying on your own, then close your devotions with...

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
—Matthew 6:9-13
