This Day Shall Be an Exception

Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
All lands to God lift up your voice—
sing praise to him; with shouts rejoice!
With voice of joy and loud acclaim,
let all unite and praise his Name!
 —Psalm 98:4
Suggested tune: Winchester New (LM)

Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!
—Luke 2:14
Arise today determined, that if you are angry all the year round, this day shall be an exception; that if you have snarled at everybody this past year, on Christmas strive to be kind toward others; and if you have lived all this year at enmity with God, I pray that by his Spirit he may grant you peace with him today. And then, indeed it will be the merriest Christmas you ever had in all your life.
What more is there to say? May God give you peace within; may he give you good will towards all your friends, your enemies, and your neighbors; and may he give you grace to give glory to God in the highest.
—Charles Spurgeon (alt.)
Today, O God, the soles of your feet have touched the earth. Today, the back street, the forgotten place has been lit up with significance. Today the households of earth welcome the King of heaven.  For you have come among us, you are one of us.  So may our songs rise to surround your throne as our knees bend to salute your cradle...

Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
