Remember Today

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.

O then that all the earth with me
would God for all his goodness praise,
and for the mighty works which he
to all the wondering world displays.
 —Psalm 107:15
Suggested tune: Duke Street (LM)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Remember today that it was not your children (who have not known or seen the discipline of the Lord your God), but it is you who must acknowledge his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretched arm.
—Deuteronomy 11:2

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The things of religion, miraculous or otherwise, do not exist solely to advance faith in God in the future. God acts among us here and now, and our faith exists in the present (if we have faith at all)—Jesus said as much in the Sermon on the Mount. Whether giving a warning or a consolation, God is the God of all time, but especially of today.

TODAY'S PRAYER
Help me, Lord, not to think of your words and actions as existing in the past, or solely as my charge to pass on to future generations, but help me believe in them today with a living faith...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
