The Lord Recognized Him

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.

With favor, Lord, look down on me,
who thy relief implore;
as thou art wont to visit those
who do thy Name adore.
 —Psalm 119:132
Suggested tune: Amazing Grace (CM)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham.
—Luke 19:9

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
It is when Christ is received as a personal Savior that salvation comes to the soul. Zacchæus had received Jesus, not merely as a passing guest in his home, but as one to abide in the soul temple. The scribes and Pharisees accused him as a sinner, they murmured against Christ for becoming his guest, but the Lord recognized him as a son of Abraham.
—Ellen White

TODAY'S PRAYER
God of faithful surprises, throughout the ages you have made known your love and power in unexpected ways and places. May I daily perceive the joy and wonder of your abiding presence and offer my life in gratitude for our salvation...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
