Every Day by the Spirit

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.

Eternal and unerring rules
thy testimonies give;
teach me the wisdom that will make
my soul for ever live.
 —Psalm 119:144
Suggested tune: Amazing Grace (CM)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
—Jeremiah 31:33

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Let us turn our hearts away from all past experience of failure, as though they were caused by nothing but unbelief. But let us admit fully and heartily what our failure has taught us: the absolute impossibility of even those who have been born again might be able by their own power to walk according to God's law. of  walking in God’s law. Then let us turn our hearts quietly and trustfully to our own Covenant God. Let us hear what he says he will do for us; and let us believe him. Let us rest on his unchangeable faithfulness and the surety of the Covenant, on his Almighty power and the Holy Spirit working within us; and let us give up ourselves to him as our God. He will prove that what he has done for us in Christ is not one whit more wonderful than what he will do in us every day by the Spirit of Christ.
 —Andrew Murray (alt.)

TODAY'S PRAYER
I witness to your law within me, O God. Your temple: holiness, justice, and joy! Your dwelling in my depths uproots grief; your presence is a joyful kingdom, transforming my life into a permanent feast...
 —Tadros Malaty (alt.)

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
