Be Satisfied

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.

Speak O ye judges of the earth,
if just your sentence be;
or, must not innocence appeal
 to heav'n from your decree?
 —Psalm 58:1
Suggested tune: Dundee (CM)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the Name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame. You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I, the Lord, am your God and there is no other. And my people shall never again be put to shame.
—Joel 2:26-27

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Give up all your efforts after growing, and simply to let yourselves grow. Leave it all to the Husbandman, whose care it is, and who alone is able to manage it. No difficulties in your case can baffle him. No dwarfing of your growth in years that are past, no apparent dryness of your inward springs of life, no crookedness or deformity in any of your past development, can in the least mar the perfect work that he will accomplish, if you will only put yourselves absolutely into his hands, and let him have his own way with you.
—Hannah Whitall Smith

TODAY'S PRAYER
O come! in this sweet morning hour
feed me with food divine;
and fill with all thy love and power
this wayward heart of mine.
—Henry Barker

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
