Perfect Integrity of Heart

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.

Forever blest be God the Lord,
who does his needful aid impart,
at once both strength and skill afford
to wield my arms with warlike art.
His goodness is my fort and tow'r,
my strong deliv'rance and my shield.
In him I trust, whose matchless pow'r
makes to my sway fierce nations yield.
 —Psalm 144:1-2
Suggested tune: Jerusalem (LMD)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Thus says the Lord: Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; but let those who boast boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the Lord; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight
—Jeremiah 9:23-24

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
If all God's ways are loving-kindness, justice, and righteousness, his holiness is also thereby conspicuous. Moreover, the knowledge of God, which is set before us in the scripture, is designed for the same purpose as that which shines in creation—namely that we may thereby learn to worship him with perfect integrity of heart and unfeigned obedience, and also to depend entirely on his goodness.
 —John Calvin, Institutes 1.10.2

TODAY'S PRAYER
I call upon you, O God, for you will answer me; incline your ear to me and hear my words. Show me your marvelous loving-kindness, O Savior of those who take refuge at your right hand...
 —Ps. 17:6-7

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
