The Harvest Is Past

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.

I've seen an end of what we call
perfection here below,
but thy commandments, like thyself,
no change or blemish know.
 —Psalm 119::96
Suggested tune: Marlow (CM)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
—Jeremiah 8:20

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Shall it be "Hallelujah," sinner, or shall it be, "We are not saved"? May God's eternal grace work in you to will and to do of his own good pleasure and so make you to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. And then may the question be decided and may you not have to say forever, "We are not saved." May God bless these words for Christ Jesus' sake.
—Charles Spurgeon

TODAY'S PRAYER
Give me wisdom to recognize the opportunities you place before me, O God. Instead of complaining about what I am not or bemoaning my deficits, help me to see what I am, and give thanks for what I possess in your Name...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
