There Christ Rests

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.

To all my family I'll declare
the triumphs of your Name;
and in the congregation, I
your glory will proclaim.
 —Psalm 22:22
Suggested tune: McKee (CM)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.
—Luke 8:39

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Wherever he sees true repentance, real faith, holy consecration, purity of life, chastity of love, there Christ rests. I believe he finds no sweeter happiness even in heaven than the happiness of accepting his people's prayers and praises. Our love is very sweet to him; our deeds of gratitude are very precious, the broken alabaster boxes of self-sacrifices done for him are very fair in his esteem. He finds no rest in the world, he never did; but he finds sweet rest on the bosoms of his faithful ones. He loves to come into a pure church, and there to say, 'I am at home. I will tell of your Name to my brothers and sisters; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you.'
 —Charles Spurgeon, 7 Jan. 1872
TODAY'S PRAYER
Make your home in my heart and among my friends and neighbors, O Lord; and may my words and actions help prepare the way...
YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
