Take My Heart

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
How many griefs the wicked earn
as part of their reward;
but cov'nant love surrounds the peo-
ple trusting in the Lord.
Be glad and shout, you righteous ones,
and in the Lord rejoice;
and let all those with upright hearts
sing out with joyful voice!
 —Psalm 32:10-11
Suggested tune: Vox Dilecti (CMD)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Is your heart as true to mine as mine is to yours? If it is, give me your hand.
—2 Kings 10:15
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
It is in the heart that God dwells, not in the tongue, and not in the brain. Till he take possession of the heart, all is as nothing, for Christ dwells in our hearts by faith [see Eph. 3:17]. Though the bodies of believers are temples of the Holy Spirit, our heart, will, and affections are the chief place of his habitation, where he resides as in his strong citadel, and from which he commands other faculties and members. And without his presence there he cannot have any habitation in us. The tongue cannot receive him by speaking, nor the understanding by knowing, nor the hands by external working. 'Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life' (Prov. 4:23).
 —Thomas Manton (alt.)

TODAY'S PRAYER
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
