Of God & Through God & In God

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
You are my God; you give me strength.
Why have you cast me off?
Why must I go about in grief
while those around me scoff?
O send your light forth and your truth,
and let them be my guide
to lead me to your holy hill,
the place where you abide.
 —Psalm 43:2-3
Suggested tune: Kingsfold (CMD)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard?
—Galatians 3:2
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Because the Holy Spirit is a comprehension of all good things promised in the gospel, we may easily see the force of the Apostle's inquiry: Did you received the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by the hearing of faith? So that in the offer of redemption, it is from God that our good is purchased, and it is God that purchases it, and it is God also that is the thing purchased. Thus all our good things are of God, and through God, and in God. And so God is himself the portion and purchased inheritance of his people. Thus God is the Alpha and Omega in this affair of redemption.
 —Jonathan Edwards (alt.)
TODAY'S PRAYER
O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling...
 —Psalm 43:3
YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
