The Purpose of God

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
Then all will fear and tell God's work,
considering his deeds.
The just find refuge in the Lord,
in him boast joyfully.
 —Psalm 64:9-10
Suggested tune: Detroit (CM)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
When God, who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and blood.
—Galatians 1:15-16
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
His separation was the purpose of God, by which Paul was appointed to the apostolic office, before he knew that he was born. The calling followed afterwards at the proper time, when the Lord made known his will concerning him, and commanded him to proceed to the work. God had, no doubt, decreed, before the foundation of the world, what he would do with regard to every one of us, and had assigned to every one, by his secret counsel, his respective place. But the sacred writers frequently introduce those three steps: the eternal predestination of God, the destination from the womb, and the calling, which is the effect and accomplishment of both

TODAY'S PRAYER
You knew me before I was born, dear God. Help me to fulfill your will for my life and answer your call, that through me, your Name may be glorified and your ways known in the places you send me...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
