A Cold & Hungry Definition

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
When he requested life from you,
you life to him did give;
such length of days you gave to him:
Forever he will live.
 —Psalm 21:4

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
The jailer called for lights, and rushing in, he fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them outside and said, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?'
They answered, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.'
—Acts 16:29-31
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Believe in the Lord Jesus. This is but a short, and, to look to, a cold and hungry definition of salvation, and yet it is perfect to believe in Christ. For Christ alone hath all the parts of blessedness and eternal life included in him, which he offereth to us by the gospel; and by faith we receive them.
 —John Calvin
TODAY'S PRAYER
I believe, Lord; help my unbelief!
 —Mark 9:24
YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
