If Our Prayer Accompanies Our Hunger

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
God sent his servant Moses then,
and Aaron, whom he chose;
great signs and wonders they displayed
to terrify their foes.
 —Psalm 105:26-27 (tune: Azmon, CM)
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
What God has made clean, you must not call profane.
—Acts 11:9
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
It does not follow that the vision was only the consequence of his hunger, as has been suggested by critics who wish to get rid of the supernatural. But the form which it took teaches us how mercifully God is wont to mold his communications according to our needs, and how wisely he shapes them, so as to find entrance through even the lower wants. The commonest bodily needs may become avenues for his truth, if our prayer accompanies our hunger.
 —Alexander Maclaren
TODAY'S PRAYER
Help me, O God, to recognize the ways that you are working out your plan of salvation in my life, in the lives of those around me, and even on the other side of the world...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
