Every Eye Will See Him

video
CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
Striking me, you caused my downfall;
but the Lord gave help to me.
So the Lord's my song and power:
He's become my victory!
 —Psalm 118:13-14
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Look! He is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and on his account all the tribes of the earth will wail. So it is to be. Amen. 'I am the Alpha and the Omega,' says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
—Revelation 1:7-8
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
How animated the language, sublime the conception, and awe-inspiring the sentiment here! Time is annihilated! The end is seen from the beginning, and all eyes are directed to the sovereign Judge of the world, as he comes in majesty to fix the final destiny of all the children of Adam! These have constituted only two classes since the world began. "Every eye will see him," but the eye will affect the heart very differently.
 —David Steele
Question: Would I perceive Christ with joy or with dread should I behold his coming?

TODAY'S PRAYER
I pray to you, Lord, to deliver me from the fear of death. When my eyes open in the dawn of heaven, may I see you standing to welcome me...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
