We Walk by Faith

CALL TO PRAYER
 Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
O Lord, do not withhold
your steadfast love from me.
Your loving-kindness and your grace
protect me constantly.
 —Psalm 40:11 (SM)
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord—for we walk by faith, not by sight.
—2 Corinthians 5:6-7
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The things that we hope for are hidden from us, and faith is the only way in which we can perceive them. We shouldn't wonder, then, if the apostle says that we don't yet have the privilege of sight as long as we walk by faith. For we see (according to 1 Cor. 13:12) through a mirror dimly—that is, in place of the reality of that which we hope for, we rest upon God's word.
 —John Calvin (alt.)
TODAY'S PRAYER
My faith has found a resting place,
not in device or creed;
I trust you, Ever-living One,
your wounds for me shall plead.
I need no other argument, I need no other plea;
it is enough, Lord, that you died,
and that you died for me.
 —Eliza Hewitt (alt.)
YOUR OWN PRAYERS
 Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
