The Last Enemy

video
CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
Come to the Lord and sing for joy;
let us our voices raise.
In joyful shouts, let us the Rock
of our salvation praise.
 —Psalm 85:1
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
—1 Corinthians 15:26
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The time is short. The fashion of this world passes away. A few more sicknesses, and all will be over. A few more funerals, and our own funeral will take place. A few more storms, and we shall be safe in harbor. We travel towards a world where there is no more sickness, where parting, and pain, and crying, and mourning, are done with for evermore. Heaven is becoming every year more full, and earth more empty. The friends ahead are becoming more numerous than the friends astern. In a very little while, the one who is coming will come and will not delay (Heb. 10:37). In his presence shall be fullness of joy. Christ shall wipe away all tears from his people's eyes. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. But it shall be destroyed. Death itself shall one day die.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
