The Joy of Heaven

CALL TO PRAYER
 Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
My confidence is in the Lord;
the meek rejoice to hear his word.
O magnify the Lord with me;
let us to praise his Name agree.
 —Psalm 34:2-3 (LM)
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
—Luke 15:7
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The church of Christ has a thousand joys, but the joy of repentance—when one doomed and lonely soul finds new direction in life—brings the joy of heaven into our very midst.
 —after Charles Spurgeon (1/15/1871)
TODAY'S PRAYER
Most merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with our whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name...
 —Book of Common Prayer
YOUR OWN PRAYERS
 Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
