Resurrection Power

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
When in his might the Lord arose to set us free,
and Zion was restored from her captivity,
in transports then of joy and mirth
we praised the Lord of all the earth!
 —Psalm 126:1-2a
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
—Philippians 3:10-11
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
I desire that you should feel resurrection power. Some can quote many verses of the Bible, but do not know the power of God. Some treasure the outward show of worship, but have never felt God's power. Some try hard to obey God's law, but cannot surrender to God's power. Many know the forms of godliness, but few have surrendered to God's power.
 —after Charles Spurgeon (4/21/1889)
TODAY'S PRAYER
I beseech you, O God, not to allow me to be content with your truth until you feel the force of it. Forbid that I should praise the spiritual food set before me, before I eat of it and know its power to nourish. Forgive me for speaking Jesus without truly knowing his power to save. God, grant that I may know the powers of the world to come, for Jesus' sake...
 —Charles Spurgeon (alt.)
YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
