Infinite in Mercy

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
Out of the depths to you I cried;
O Lord, give ear to me.
O hear my voice, and listen to
my supplicating plea.
 —Psalm 130:1-2
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?
—Romans 11:33-34
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Because you cannot, you think God cannot or will not. "Yes," says the Lord, "I can abundantly pardon, for my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor my ways as your ways." We poor creatures think our sins are unpardonable, and that we shall be assured of God's favor, or hope for his love. "But you are mortals," says the Lord, "and have finite thoughts; I am God, infinite in mercy—even when you think I will have no mercy."
 —Thomas Hooker (alt.)
TODAY'S PRAYER
Forgive me for the wrongs I have committed in what I have done and in what I have left undone; in what I have said and in what I have been too cowardly or too selfish to say. But more than anything else, O God, forgive me for thinking that my sins are more powerful than your grace. Thank you for the freedom to pray to you in Jesus' Name...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
