A Fruitful Branch

CALL TO PRAYER
Repeat and or meditate on this verse until your thoughts are centered on God.
So all those who fear the Lord shall
in this way great blessing know.
May the Lord from out of Zion
blessings rich on you bestow.
May you see Jerusalem prosper
all your days, until they cease.
May you see your children's children—
on all Israël be peace!
 —Psalm 128:4-6
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
—John 15:5
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
O my brothers and sisters, Christ must do all! The Vine provides the sap, and the life, and the strength: the branch waits, and rests, and receives, and bears the fruit. Oh, the blessedness of being only branches, through whom the Spirit flows and brings God’s life to men and women!
—Andrew Murray, The True Vine (alt.)
TODAY'S PRAYER
O Holy Spirit, help me to realize the unspeakably solemn place I occupy in the mind of God. He has planted me into his Son with the calling and the power to bear much fruit. Help me to accept that place, looking to Chris for all I need, and joyfully expecting to be what God has planned me to be—a fruitful branch...

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
Allow the above to help guide your own confession, praise, thanksgiving, and/or petition.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
 —Matthew 6:9-13
