Integrity

CALL TO PRAYER
Speak or think these words until God is at the center of your mind.
I will leave in the midst of you a people humble and lowly. They shall seek refuge in the Name of the Lord.
—Zephaniah 3:12

DAILY SCRIPTURE
Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. We have renounced the shameful things that one hides; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word; but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God.
—2 Corinthians 4:1-2

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
There's a difference between the human conscience and human hearing. Let the servants of Christ, therefore, consider it enough to prove our integrity to others' consciences in God's sight, and pay no regard to popular opinion.
—John Calvin (adapted)

HYMN OF THE DAY
(Suggested tune: Ellacombe CMD)
O magnify the God of grace
who hears his people's cry,
and come with songs before his face,
exalt his Name on high!
To see at last, by grace restored
from sin and all its stains
the holy mountain of the Lord
where God in glory reigns.
—Psalm 99:9 (Dudley-Smith paraphrase)

TODAY'S PRAYER
Let this prayer help guide the personal prayers that follow.
I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there...
—1 Chronicles 29:17a

YOUR OWN PRAYERS
(Spoken aloud or silently)

LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
