The Gift of Boldness

CALL TO PRAYER
Speak or think these words until God is at the center of your mind.
I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me.
—Psalm 118:13
TEXT OF THE DAY
The Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
—Isaiah 50:7
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
None have the gift of boldness but those to whom God gives it. If left to ourselves, we shall falter; but God will assist the resolved heart by his Spirit in that very hour when the trial comes. It matters not in whose presence we stand: we need not be afraid, we need not be anxious.
—Thomas Manton (alt.)
MORNING PRAYER
Let this prayer be the opening of a longer personal prayer.
Holy and mighty God, because your Son's triumph over sin and death has opened the gate of eternal life, grant me courage this day to face whatever comes my way, that I may bask in the radiance of the glory of Jesus Christ, in whose Name I pray.
YOUR OWN PRAYERS
(Spoken aloud or silently)
LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
