Pray, and Pray Earnestly

CALL TO PRAYER
And you will say in that day: Give thanks to the Lord, call on his Name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his Name is exalted.
—Isaiah 12:4
PSALM
O thank the Lord; call on his Name.
His deeds to all make known.
Sing praises; sing to him; proclaim
the wonders he has done.
—Psalm 105:1-2
Suggested tune (Horsley):
TEXT OF THE DAY
Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us, so that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified everywhere, just as it is among you.
—2 Thessalonians 3:1
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
If you would receive any good out of the word read or preached, pray, and pray earnestly before it. Pray for assistance for ministers. Hence the apostle says, 'Pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified.' Pray that the Lord himself would come out with them, directing them, instructing them, and exciting in them what to speak and how to speak. It is rare to see a lively people under a dead ministry; and therefore people's own interest should engage them in concern for their ministers.
—Thomas Boston
MORNING PRAYER
Almighty God, work in and through your ministers to speed your gospel around the world, that all nations may soon have heard its glorious message; and may your strayed flock come back to the one fold—your heart, and to the one Shepherd—your only-begotten Son, in whose Name I pray. Amen.
—F.B. Meyer
