Not to Be Served, But to Serve

CALL TO PRAYER
You have taken up my cause, O Lord, you have redeemed my life.
—Lamentations 3:58
PSALM
No more shall we wander, delighting in shame:
Revive us, O Lord; we will call on thy Name.
Restore us, O Lord God of Hosts, to thy grace,
and then we shall live in the light of thy face.
—Psalm 80:18-19
Suggested tune (St. Denio):
TEXT OF THE DAY
For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.
—Mark 10:45
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
A haughty disciple of a lowly Savior! How offensive is this contradiction to our Master! What a cause of stumbling to the world!
—Charles Bridges
MORNING PRAYER
Help me, O Lord, to take up my cross and follow you in the path of your humiliation and faith. So may I finally behold your face in righteousness and receive from you the crown which never fades away. Amen.
—F.B. Meyer
